The Royal Palace of Caserta, famously known as the "Versailles of Naples", was built by Vanvitelli at the bequest of Charles of Borbone in the XVIII century. The Palace is considered one of the most sumptuous of Italy with 1,200 rooms, 34 staircases and 1742 windows. The immense residence includes a magnificent park with English Garden built by Maria Carolina of Austria, full of exotic plants and decorated in the Romantic style.
